National Public Health Week

April 6 - 12th is National Public Health Week! Public Health addresses so many issues and involves numerous areas of the population from disease spread and control to environmental health and research. America leads the world in many areas. Unfortunately, some of the worst health habits top that list. For National Public Health Week, one of the messages this year is to commit to having The Healthiest Nation in 1 Generation. Watch the video and let me know what you think and how you will make changes in your life and the lives of those around you.

Hello Dr. Watson!

I thought the presentation to be very informative; it was kind of like the presentation you had the class look at from the American Public Health Association, in either unit 4 or 5, somewhere along those units. What could America do to become the "Healthy Nation in 1 Generation," it could raise the prices on fast-food like McDonald's and Burger King, do away with the "Value Menu", yeah, I'm a culprit to the "Value Menu", I confess...lol! Like in one of those Asian countries, I think Japan, a Big Mac is like $10, so I believe this would be a start. As far as lowering the STD and HIV rate amongst those under 29, we need better Sex Ed. courses, and start having these courses in every grade level, starting from the 7th grade.

Thanks for the blog!
